Welcome to The Old Rectory Wheathill B&B, rated 5 Star on TripAdvisor. A country house bed and breakfast in glorious Shropshire countryside near the beautiful medieval market town of Ludlow, famous for its food and its festivals.
A classic Georgian rectory, the house nestles in the tiny hamlet of Wheathill, listed in the Doomsday book and perched between the Brown Clee and Titterstone Clee hills. There are outstanding views in all directions.
The bedrooms are large and light with deeply comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms. In the morning, come down to a leisurely country house breakfast in the dining room.
Relax and unwind in our very own rural retreat. We have 7 acres of beautiful gardens with free range chickens and ducks, an orchard and stables. For the duration of your stay our home is your home.
Your comfort is our concern at The Old Rectory. Guests have the use of the large and comfortable drawing room where you can have afternoon tea and relax in front of the fire with the newspaper, a magazine or a good book from our extensive library.
Breakfast is taken in the dining room overlooking the gardens – or if its fine you can take your meals outside on the terrace and enjoy the view framed by the magnificent cedar tree.
For riders or walkers there is a boot room where you can store muddy footwear and wet clothes. There’s a peg and a boot locker for everyone. And if you come in from the cold outdoors there’s a small sauna in the cellar – perfect for one – or two if you want to be cosy.
There are three elegant and individual rooms, two with lovely ensuite bathrooms and both with views over the spectacular gardens. The third room looks over the front of the house and the stable yard. It is smaller than the other two , but perfectly comfortable with its own rather smart private bathroom ( not ensuite).
The Yellow Room is smaller than the other two rooms, but perfectly formed, overlooking the front of the house and the stable yard.It has a king-sized double bed, a flat screen tv and dvd, hair dryer and digital alarm clock.
It has a luxurious, separate, private bathroom (not ensuite) accessed down a short flight of stairs. The bathroom has a cast iron, roll-topped slipper bath and a large shower. It is stocked with soft towels, robes and slippers and our own range of toiletries.
The Blue Room has french-style painted furniture and an extremely comfortable super-king sized bed that can be converted into two 3 foot twin beds if preferred. The bed has crisp cotton sheets and very soft goose down pillows and duvets. If you would like sheets and blankets or if you have an allergy and prefer synthetic duvets and pillows then just let us know.
There is a flat screen TV with freeview and built in dvd, a hair dryer, a digital radio alarm and free wireless internet.
In the stylish bathroom there is a full size bath with an overhead deluge shower. There is a heated towel rail, huge fluffy white towels, bathrobes and our own range of luxury toiletries. If we have forgotten anything or you have left anything behind you need only ask.
The Green Room is very large and light. It has a wonderfully comfortable super-kingsize double bed with crisp cotton sheets and soft goose-down duvets and pillows. If you would prefer sheets and blankets, or duvets with synthetic fillings just let us know.
There’s antique furniture, a flat screen TV with freeview and built in dvd, a hair dryer, digital radio alarm and free wireless internet.
There are books and magazines to read, fresh flowers, a selection of teas and fresh coffee, bottles of sparkling and still mineral water and homemade biscuits to munch.
In the ensuite bathroom there is a classic freestanding cast iron bath and a large separate shower. You’ll find a heated towel rail, huge fluffy white towels, bathrobes and our own luxury toiletries. If theres anything at all we’ve forgotten or that you’ve left behind then you need only ask.
